We have a winner! (and it's not UCONN)

Nobody can catch Krupp. Luckenbach can come close! With no #1 seeds reaching the Final Four and especially with UCONN losing today there are only 14 brackets that can even get any more points; and only one of those, Luckenbach, can get into the top four spots. First the standings (with the highest possible score next to those with a team still alive) and then the scenarios.

We have a winner???

Altogether now, in your best Natalie Cole voice, "Insurmountable......." or in your best Chris Berman voice, "He - could - go - all - the - way", or maybe in your best Freddie Prinze, "Lookin' Gooood". I hear the Fat Lady and Dandy Don Meredith warming up.

No corrections?

I heard from only one person regarding their score and it was a false alarm so I am assuming at this point that the standings are official heading into the Sweet 16.

Also, while it is certainly too early for anyone to start counting and spending their winnings the payout is as follows:

First place - $330
Second place - $150
Third place - $100
Fourth place - $60
Last place - $5

Enjoy the games!

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Please double check your point totals: Round 1 - 2pts, Round 2 - 3pts. See me with any corrections/questions. This weekend's games are worth 4 points for Thursday and Friday and 5 points for Saturday and Sunday.

WOW!!!! I was sure the Huskies were going down but once again they play hard for 10 minutes or so and pull one out of the fire. Albany deserved to win....if you combined UCONN's talent with Albany's effort you'd have an undefeated national champion.

POOL NOTES 3/17/06

Having blog trouble so this will have to do. Also between watching Scott pitch (6-0 win), the lateness of the last game with the bomb threat in San Diego, and the 126 entries all I can do this morning is standings……comments later! Happy St Patrick's Day and Go Huskies tonight!!!

First round games are 2 points each……

28 - Pudin y Pastel (Guerra), Keith Luckenbach, Bob Hodgson, David Gionfriddo, Earl Henrickson 2

Go Huskies......and I hope to post more in the morning.

Well Steve Goldberg once again has the fastest brackets into the pool.....not sure if they are the best but they are definitely the fastest! Got those Final Exam grades done already too Steve?

Two disclaimers!!! The results following Sunday March 19th will be delayed. I will be in Philadelphia watching the Huskies (or Albany!!!) and will not get home until late so those standings will not be posted until Tuesday morning. The following weekend the night of Friday, March 24th is my Fantasy Baseball Draft, which usually ends at 2 or 3 in the morning so the results following those games will be delayed as well!

Have fun filling out those brackets and remember the deadline is noon on Thursday and I am not able to hunt you down! You need to find me! Good luck to one and all. Go UCONN!

Pool rules 2006 Hello again bracketologists! Here’s the deal…….Fill out the ENTIRE bracket…..I can’t say this enough…there’s always somebody…will it be YOU this year?????? Or will you be the one calling me saying "I forgot to pick a winner in the Arizona vs Wisconsin game". Oh yea, before I forget and before you get sick of reading – THIS IS THE MEN’S POOL. I don’t have anything against the women…..I like UCONN women and root for them…I even used to have season tickets…HOWEVER…I am running one and only one pool…YOU run the women’s pool and I’ll be the first one to fill out a bracket…deal? First round games will be worth 2 points each, second round games will be worth 3 points, third round 4 points, fourth round 5 points, fifth round 6 points and the final 8 points. First tiebreaker is having the final game right, second tiebreaker is most 5th round games right, then most 4th round games, etc. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places, amounts will depend on number of players (last year there was 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th and there may be again this year) Eligible pool divers include EO Smith, East Hampton High & Middle Schools and any family or friends that any of you may wish to include. Pets are welcome but must bathe first. Topless bathers welcome! I have never won this thing (I did come in 3rd or 4th once) but this too will change right Red Sox fans? This one is important! Brackets AND $5 are due by noon on Thursday (and I'm NOT going to chase after you)! Please don’t use red to fill out your bracket! And please use the bracket you get from either me or Marilyn or a copy of the same bracket only. You must pick UCONN at least once….just kidding….don’t pick all 4 #1 seeds in the Final Four though…that’s boring! (plus I’ll make fun of you)Have fun…….play a hunch or three. Fill out as many brackets as you want.....we're not too proud to take more of your somewhat hard earned dinero. GO HUSKIES!!!
